The OMS Snowboard crew has been busy with training since the start of the New Year. Okemo's parks and pipe and are up and running and everyone is starting to progress really quickly. This past week we spent Tuesday at the Beast and thoroughly enjoyed and took advantage of the Timberline park and Neffland jibs. It's truly a fun setup with a healthy mix of 40+ features including a variety of boxes and rails, numerous tubes, and some progression style jumps. It's a great outlet for the athletes to hone in on their jibbing skills and basic jump tricks each week. We have spent the past couple of days at home and everyone is loving the Blackout jumps and slope setup as it is very conducive for learning smaller spins on the mellow jumps and taking them to the bigs. It is great for progression and has been proven by all the athletes learning new tricks this week.
Peter Tonkel has learned frontside 180's and is dialing in proper methods, his brother
Will Tonkel has also stomped a couple of frontside 180's and landed his first 360 off a jump today.
Amanda Burnham is working on backside threes and
Maddy Cassano has been working on dialing in the speed to clear the jump and stomp her landings with ease.
Anna Valentine is sending some sweet front 3's off the first big and is working her way into backside 3's on the second small jump option.
Joey Okesson has a pretty nice run dialed in including a front board, boardslide to fakie, switch back1 to backside 360- all with style.
Taylor Spaulding has dialed in a clean and technical run including switch backside 5's to a backside 7, and a couple of nice jib tricks as well. All in all, it's awesome to see the progression ramp up!!!
The pipe is also in great shape and the crew is just getting their pipe legs in shape for the upcoming weekend's first USASA pipe event here at Okemo. Stay posted for the results.
Next week we have the
OMS STG SNOWBOARD CAMP and we are looking forward to helping all the Campers learn some new tricks and to get a taste of OMS. It should be an awesome and action-packed week with training, airbag use, OMS tramp sessions, and a day trip to Killington to ride the Stash and Neffland parks. We'll have some photos and updates throughout the week so please tune in.
