Today started out a little early then expected for some of us, waking at 6 o’clock for a marvelous breakfast made by Bryce Langille, who absolutely killed it! A day such as today needed to start off with a great breakfast that included, Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwiches followed by apple slices and the Holy Smokes movie to top off the morning. Out of the place by 8:20am sharp, just a couple stragglers along the way. We arrived at the gondola to learn we were the first there. We met a new friend that day; Oscar that is now moving to Mammoth after we showed him the Mountain’s full potential. Oscar didn’t even take a break today for lunch. We didn’t expect a day as glorious as it was. Hiking along the spine of Mammoth Mountain to drop into a ridiculous powder drop. It was both scary and definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was truly the coolest thing, as a team, that we have ever done. Continuing down the mountain at high speeds and traversing the big mountain into the glades through thick powder and beautiful scenery- falling at that point felt better then our feet did. After we reached the base of our run, we met up with a ski patroller that let us know we where the first to ever ride down the dragon’s tail all year. Thanks to Luke and his knowledge of the Mountain- we were stoked!!

Bryce gets a facial
What do you know a bunch of east coast riders that don’t know how to ride pow were the first of the year- ain’t that something.., After that, we were all really beat and went to rest. So, we called it a day and went to the hot springs in the outskirts of town and past the Green Church Road and to the raddest hot spring ever!   After relieving ourselves of stress and getting having a personal facial we took off to the skate park. We met up with Greg Bokenkamp who proved that East Coaster’s kill it on the west side at the Volcom Brothers Skatepark. Then we had a nice homework session that led off to a nice dinner. I said Grace and it was a good one! After a quick video session and coaching analysis on tape we headed to the hot tub for some more relaxation, then for a little down time.
