OMS at Mammoth: Day 2

OMS Crew w/ from L-R: Jordan Nield, Danny Garrity, Casey Savage, Taylor Spaulding, Shayne Pospisil, Coach Tuna, Coach Luke, Amanda Burnham, Bryce Langille- AWESOME!!!
Well, to put it bluntly, today was the most epic day of snowboarding that the crew of OMS snowboarders (Bryce Langille, Amanda Burnham, Taylor Spaulding, and Amanda Burnham) have ever had- hands down and the pics are proof!!! That was the consensus among the OMS snowboard athletes and the coaching staff and here’s a little breakdown of our killer day.

OMS shredheads
7am: Awoke, ate some breakfast, and had a team stretch/team bonding session
8:30am: Walked out of our condo to crystal clear bluebird skies, no wind, and a HUGE mountain covered in snow.  **Sidenote: We received another 8-12” yesterday on top of the 4’-6’ over the weekend.
9am: We reached the summit and took some team photos with the surreal Ansel Adams Wilderness, Yosemite, and the spectacular Minarets as the backdrop.
9:15am-10:30am: Fresh tracks after fresh tracks on the Chair 12/14 bowl with some killer rock and cornice drops.
10:30am: Met up with former OMS'er and pro shredder Shayne Pospisil and buds Danny Garrity, and Flow rider Jordan Nield.  Hiked the Hemlocks for some steep, and deep freshies.
L-R at the summit: Casey, Amanda, Luke, Tuna, Taylor, and Bryce
11am-12am: More powder hot laps with Pospisil and crew.
12pm: Quick lunch
12:30pm-2pm: Forest Trail and Chair 4 park laps.
2pm: Toasted legs!!!

The majestic Minerets
Needless to say, the kids saw a different part of snowboarding that was completely outside of the competition realm and park scene that really is true snowboarding!! I can say without any doubt, that today’s experience had an impact on the OMS crew that will last them a lifetime and will hopefully propel them to be the complete snowboarder that we push for here at OMS..

Stay posted for Day 3!
