OMS Snowboarders compete in 1st USASA Rail Jam:

L-R: Anna, Morgan, Eric, Casey, Austin

OMS Snowboarders Jack Valentine and Austin Hawkes competed in the first USASA Rail Jam at Mount Snow last Friday.  For those of you who may not be aware, USASA has designated rail jams as an official discipline this year with each event as a qualifier for the final rail jam event at Copper in April.  The winner of this event also was given the prestigious ticket to compete in an X Games exhibition event at Aspen in a few weeks.

Jack front lip, 270 out
Jack and Austin both rode really well in a tough field and threw down an arsenal of crafty tricks on the two jib setup.  We saw some front and backlips (both regs and switch), a couple of 270's off and on, and some solid front boards as well.  Jack landed just out of reach of a medal with a 4th place finish out of 12 and Austin Hawkes took home a bronze in the 12-13 age bracket.  Austin also placed 1st in the 14 and under What I Learned this Summer Rail Jam. Nice work guys!

We also had some of our weekenders perform well with Austin's little sis Morgan Hawkes taking the bronze and Anna Valentine killing it with a 1st in the 10-11 girls group.  Casey Savage rode extremely well with some ridiculous nollie to front boards and took home the silver and future OMS snowboarder Emmitt Ellmaker nabbed a bronze.  Last but not least, OMS Alumni and OMST weekend coach Eric Verillo took 1st overall and is headed to the X games to compete in a few weeks!
