Anna Valentine takes the Vermont Open Pipe and Women's Overalls

Anna Valentine super stoked atop the podium at the Vermont Open

OMS snowboarder Anna Valentine took the Vermont Open by storm this weekend with 2 podium finishes and 2 top five results.  This was Anna's first Vermont Open and she competed in the Women's Pro division with the opportunity to compete in the rail jam, halfpipe, big air, and banked slalom.  There was a pretty nice purse on the line for the victors and Anna had high hopes going into this that she could come away with some of the cash.  The rail jam was on Friday and Anna did quite well with a 4th place finish and competed against a field of riders who were quite older than her. Saturday was the halfpipe and Anna threw down a heavy run including stylish airs, a couple 3's, a 540, and a handplant to walk away with the win and a whopping $1000 dollars! A few hours after the pipe, it was on the Big Air at night which was held on Suntanner. The jumps were rather intimidating due to the nighttime factor, and Anna sent a nice method off the medium to come away with a 3rd place finish and $250.  The Banked Slalom was on Sunday and over 150 competitors both young and old registered for this event, leaving stacked field.  Anna did quite well and ended up in 5th place that secured her spot atop the field of women for a 1st place in women's overalls and another $1000! A big congrats to Anna for her strong performance over the course of the weekend.

The Vermont Open has become an inaugural east coast event in which snowboarders both young and old flock to Stratton, Vermont to compete in 3 days of events including a rail jam, halfpipe, big air, and banked slalom.  The energy at the VT Open is nothing but positive as younger riders are able to ride along with and compete against some of the legends of our sport. It is truly a refreshing event with some old school flare and a much needed breath of fresh air for the southern Vermont snowboard scene.
