OMS and Smith Optics Know Your History: Victoria Jealouse
Last season, the OMS coaching staff decided that it was time for the kids to gain some proper knowledge on the legends of our sport who bootpacked the trail for the snowboarding and made it what it is today. We deemed it “Know your History.” In year two, we’re collaborating with Smith Optics and have left it up to their infamous TM Nate Farrell to dish out some og’er names for our kids to research, grow to know, and to ultimately develop a deeper and richer appreciation for the sport they all love. Here is Victoria Jealouse, written by OMS Snowboarder Madison Cassano (17')
Victoria Jealouse, is a Canadian snowboarder. She has been a
pro rider for over a decade, and has been sponsored by Burton her whole
carrier. She is considered a legend in Canadian snowboarding. She grew up
skiing, and then switched to snowboarding after 5 years. She started off on the
competition scene and competed in the circuit but moved on to big mountain
riding as soon as she experienced her first big line. She did back country catalog
shoots for Burton, it was then she realized that the back country was her
favorite. She’s been in countless movies, such as Under the Influence, Lost and
Found, The tangerine Dream, Soul purpose, The High Life, and the Prophecy. She
won the Mount Baker legendary banked slalom in 200, and 2006. Victoria Jealouse
has won several TWS awards and is probably at the forefront of putting women’s
backcountry riding on the map.
