The OMS SB posse have embarked on a very cool trip and we
are headed westbound to Mammoth Mountain, CA for some west coast shredding at
one of the raddest hills and parks around, well in the world for that matter!
After a long day of traveling (cumulative of, oh about 12
hrs or so) we finally touched down in the “Littlest, Biggest City in the
World,” Reno, NV yesterday at 2pm The OMS SB posse was stoked to get out of the
sky and onto the ground but at baggage claim, one of our athlete’s bags was on
the carousel which put a damper on things. But we were reassured that the luggage would be in tomorrow
so we continued on our journey south into the high Sierras. That said, we
hopped in our rental and headed out for the 3 hour trek to Mammoth. Along the way, the crew was continually
amazed at the vast landscape and beauty of the high Sierras and we witnessed
the following along the way; an entire hillside scorched by a recent fire burn,
In-N-Out Burger, Topaz Lake, Sonora Pass, Mono Lake and the very cool monoliths,
the gateway to Yosemeti, June Mountain, and finally Mammoth Lakes, and the
Mountain we’re all so stoked to shred!
As some of you may know, Mammoth has been receiving some
pretty insane snowfall this year and it was immediately apparent on our drive up
the access road that there is a copious amount of snow here!!! The snowbanks
went from 1’-2’-3’ feet as we ascended the access road and at the Main Lodge of
the Mountain there were definitely some 8’ high banks- so we knew we were in
for a good time.. After arrival at
the Mammoth Mountain Inn, we settled in, ordered up a couple of pies, and are
hitting the sack and stoked to explore the Mountain tomorrow.
Stay posted!!!
