Spring Cleanup Snowboard Camp: Day 1

Hannah first hit indy
Today was day one of the long-awaited OMS Spring Cleanup Snowboard Camp and it went off in style! All the athletes met at OMS at 7:30am for a quick meet and greet followed by a short warm-up jog to the Ludlow church.  It was easy to see that some of the riders were a bit out of shape so we'll make sure to take care of that tomorrow.

We headed up to the Mountain and from a distance it looked as though the shredding may be a bit gnarly but when we arrived at the pipe at 8:30 it was anything but that.
Okemo guaranteed us a freshly cut pipe for our first three days of riding and it was mint! No joke..  The walls were corderoy and with the warm temps it meant that both walls were soft.  Not to mention that Okemo opened up the t bar for our crew which ensured A LOT of runs for the crew. After a few laps, the session really started to heat up.  Tucker was sending his timeless lofty airs, followed by some frontside 5's by Mr. Rebates, and a handful of ultra smooth airs were sent Kai Lichtensteiger and Joey Okesson.  Casey and John were doing their jib thing in the Dew Zone and dipped into the pipe for some one-hitters while Amanda and Hannah were pushing each other with some solid pipe runs that included several back to back threes.  Our two newbies to the pipe were Camille and Madison who had not really ridden any pipe prior to today but they lapped the U tube and quickly began to pick it up.  Bryce Langille was grabbing frontside mutes and Chuck Berry was putting together some pipe runs and after on hour or so, Austin Hawkes spearheaded a mctwist session where Rebates and Taylor joined in and wrestled with ol' mickie.  In the end, all three landed one and Hawkes nailed a mctwist 5 to cap off the session in fashion.

We spent the last hour of the morning lapping Noreaster which was super fun.  It was a smorgasbord of fun jibs, good jumps, sketchy jumps, pond skims, and firecrackers which made for some of the most interesting Noreaster hot laps (literally) of the season.  In the end, after a day of riding in near 70 degree weather, the riders were beat, but super stoked for day 2! Stay tuned...
