OMS Spring Cleanup Camp: It's a wrap

Day 4 and 5 of the OMS Spring Cleanup Camp was accompanied with more sunny weather, very warm temps, sunburnt smiles, and all around great times.  On Thursday, we decided that we would take the OMS bus up to Winterplace and walk over to pipe, which was a good call as the conditions elsewhere on the Mountain had dwindled to just a couple trails.  When we arrived at the pipe, we were happily surprised to see a freshly manicured halfpipe which stoked everyone out.  The morning consisted of some pipe runs in which campers and OMSers were getting in their last East Coast pipe runs of the year.  I think it's safe to say that we had the last functional pipe in our neck of the woods for the Spring Cleanup Camp, which was rad and a big thanks to Okemo for making this happen!  After some pipe riding, the crew setup a flat rail-drop-to flat rail that Casey Savage, Emmett Ellmaker, and John Garoutte sessioned for a while.  During the construction of this setup, another crew of Austin Rebetz, Charlie Berry, and Taylor Spaulding setup a up box in the Dew Zone and sessioned it for an hour or so. The SCSC girl posse of Camille Stengel, Hannah Merson, Madison Cassano, and Amanda Burnham all threw down on the box which was fun to watch. Bryce Langille also developed a new sport in called snow paddling (paddle boarding on snow) and OMS Senior Steve Thomas was riding harder than anybody knowing that it was his last day at Okemo with OMS- we'll miss you Steve!   In the meantime, Coach Tucker setup a 24" x 16' culvert on the upper part of the pipe and a flat box was set on the ledge of the wall of the lower pipe.  Needless to say, the options were unlimited and reminded all the coaches of riding back in the day- when you could do such things and get away with it.  So, another big thanks to Jeremy and the Okemo park staff for allowing us to get creative on our last day at the hill.  In conclusion, session after session went down so please stay tuned for the Spring Cleanup Camp video edit coming soon!

John G stokin' the sponsors
Day 5: Due to the conditions, our coaching staff decided to make the final day of Camp a skate, soccer, BBQ, and Spring House day.  Jerry Tucker and Tuna manned the skate park and Jerry had Campers do some tic tac competitions in which Camper standout John Garoutte stood victorious.  There was also a heated ramp session in the Dorsey Skate Park in which a handful of Campers including Amanda Burnham, Austin Hawkes, Casey Savage, Charlie Berry, Austin Rebetz, and Joey Okesson were all killing it on the ramp.  In the meantime, Coach Bonang was setting up the grill and started to BBQing some dogs and burgs for the crew and a shout out to Jeanne Langille (Bryce's mom) for providing the goods!  After some grilling, we had the entire crew cleanup the Skate park area at Dorsey (hence, Spring Cleanup).  It was a karma filled gesture and everyone was stoked to give back to the community.

At noon, the OMS crew went back to School and Coach Tuna took the Camp posse to the Spring House to enjoy some pool and spa action. which was well-deserved after the solid effort that put everyone put forth all week.  After the pool, all the Campers and the OMS crew met at OMS for the Camp send-off, awards, and swag giveaway.  Everyone received a super cool Spring Cleanup tank top and a bunch of rad swag from our sponsors.  Big props to Nate Farrell at Smith Optics, Brew at Vew-Do, Rumore at White Flag, Jay at the Darkside, and Johnny Woodell at Mountain Riders for stoking out the Campers.  We ended the week of pure awesomeness with a Camp photo followed by some quick goodbyes and we hope to have everyone at the Camp next year!
