OMS Snowboarding: Know Your History // Cara Beth-Burnside

OMS Snowboarders are dedicated and passionate about the Sport, so therefore Jerry and I have put it upon our athletes to know a little bit more about the history of snowboarding and on the old school shredders who paved the way.  We have picked one OG snowboarder and have asked each OMS snowboarder to do some research and gain a little more historical knowledge on the legends of snowboarding.  Fourth up, Cara Beth-Burnside written by OMS Snowboarder Amanda Burnham.

Cara Beth Burnside started out skate boarding, but as the woman's side of the sport came to a stand still she decided to pursue a professional career in snowboarding. Although she became a pro snowboarder she never stopped skating, and used her publicity to help promote woman's skateboarding. She was ranked second in the world by 1995. She competed in the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics were she placed 4th and regularly placed in the top five at the Winter X games. Not only was she competing in Snowboarding, she was also competing in skating. When she was 23 she started competing professionally against men, and won two X games gold metals. Also she had five Vans Triple Crown titles, and four all girl skate jam titles. On the other side of things, she was also the very first woman to have a signature skate shoe. Cara-Beth Burnside is badass and one of the only pro female skate boarders girls have to look up to. She is one of the best female action sports athletes ever!
